Welcome to our website!

At Bo-Irish Newfies, we breed quality Newfoundland dogs and have about 3 litters of puppies for sale a year.  Check out the links for more info. Our farm, Bo-Irish, was named after our heritage. Gary is Bohemian and Mary is Irish and thence the name, Bo-Irish. We are located in the rolling hills on a scenic back road, in the beautiful farm country of Wisconsin an hour and a half from Madison. Here at Bo-Irish, you will find some of the most sought after genetics in the world. Please visit our link to check out our dairy herd of Holstein cows, as well as our dog link, the gentle giant breed of Newfoundlands. We breed AKC Black and Landseer Newfoundlands.

In Loving Memory of Mary E. Housner

Breeding Newfoundland dogs became my mother’s passion. She adored the Newfoundland breed, and got great satisfaction from the joy her dogs brought to those who were fortunate enough to have their lives touched by them. She met some fantastic people because of these wonderful pets. Many started as customers, but quickly became truly amazing friends.

After her diagnosis with terminal cancer, she began her very courageous fight. Through her illness, she continued to do everything she could with her dogs, and began to teach us more about her carefully researched and refined methods of caring for these special animals. It was her hope that her passion for Newfoundland’s could be carried on by her family.

Some of my fondest recent memories revolve around raising puppies with my mother, seeing the wonderment in the faces of those who were able to make it to the farm to see them, as well as hearing the excitement of those who called when their anxiously awaited puppy arrived happy and healthy at their destination.

With the expert guidance my mother provided, we carry on her dream. Thanks to her, we have grown to adore Newfoundlands as she did. Their kindness, loyalty and character are unmatched by any breed we know. We are excited to be able to continue to provide these loving companions to those who wish to welcome them into their lives and families.

We MISS our mother, wife, grandmother, relative and friend very much! Love you ALWAYS & FOREVER! Hugs & Kisses! Till we meet again

One of our dogs was featured in the Dog Fancy magazine for carting Christmas trees and kids in the woods.  We also have dogs titled in water and draft work and those who are also doing therapy work.  We raise our puppies in our home for socialization and a jump start on training.  We also use the potty park system to get the puppies well started on housetraining.

Congratulations!!!!

One of our Bo-Irish dogs, Chewbaca Merlin Bear, known as 'Boo' born in 2005, has recently received numerous dog titles for Draft Dog, Water Dog, and Water Rescue Dog.  Congratulations to Boo, John and Monica B. of California, for their amazing work with Boo.  Not only did they take Boo through these working dog titles, but went on to see him attain his Water Rescue Dog Excellent title!  Please visit the Newfoundland Club of America website: www.ncanewfs.org to read more about the requirements of earning the certifications of these titles.  The Water Rescue Dog Excellent title requires advanced training with constant teamwork as well as physical stamina.  Not all dogs who have earned water rescue titles will be able to attain this high level of expertise.  A WRDX excellent Newf will demonstrate superior natural ability training and efficiency in a rescue situation according to the website.  We're very proud of Monica and John for working with Boo to attain this high level of recognition!

Dog Fancy Article

Check out the article in Dog Fancy magazine, December 2009, K-9 to 5 working dogs page 35.  The article on Tree Movers features a Bo-Irish dog, Rigged for a Thunder Storm, known as Thunder.  An awesome Landseer, Thunder was the first puppy born here at Bo-Irish.  He now makes his home in Virginia, but helps with the hauling of Christmas trees at the Seven Springs Tree Farm in Gettysburg PA.  He's been trained to pull kids in carts as well as to drag the trees on sleds.  Congratulations to Dave R. and Thunder on their awesome work on the tree farm!
